PREPARE YOUR SKIN FOR SPRING

Winter is almost over and the sunny days of spring will soon arrive. While the thought of outdoor activities and preparing for lazy days at the beach are appealing, you may be a bit apprehensive about your skin’s condition due to the harshness of winter.

We do not want you to feel discouraged. Using a few regular skincare tips will help you to get your skin ready for spring. The timing could not be better as spring is a great time to continue growth and rejuvenation.

So, here are 5 tips to get your skin ready for spring!

1. EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

It should not come as a surprise that we start with exfoliation. During the winter, your cleansing and exfoliation routine may have been a bit lax due to the harshness of the weather. While you should be exfoliating and cleansing in combination all year long, if you have slacked a bit then now is the time to start.

The SpaCloth FaceMate is a great way to start this process for your face, coupled with a SpaCloth for your body (SpaCloth Mitt or SpaCloth SoapPocket). The goal is to scrub away the dead skin cells.

Exfoliation should happen two to three times per week. If you have extremely dry skin, couple this process with a moisturizer that will complement the process.

2. SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE FEET

Exfoliation of the skin is the first step but often times the hands and feet receive brutal treatment during winter weather and lack of regular attention.

With spring just around the corner, you want to make sure your feet are ready for flip flops and that your hands are smooth.

Although SpaCloth is the first step in the removal of dead-skin cells, for the feet, we like to add an extra process that softens the skin to make it more accepting of regular exfoliation. Prepare a basin and fill it with hot water (add a couple of cups of milk for added benefit). Relax and soak for 10 minutes. This process will soften the skin.

After the soaking is complete, use a pomice stone with a focus on your heels where the thickest skin often builds. Scrub gently for several minutes. Follow this process with the use of SpaCloth for cleansing and exfoliating the feet.

3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Water, water and more water! Drinking water has a profound positive effect on your skin and it’s a healthy life choice for your body. Aim for the recommended 8 glasses per day as a minimum.

This is not as hard as it may seem. Try to have a glass when you wake in the morning. Add a glass to each meal during the day and make a habit of drinking a glass before bed.

Not only will your skin thank you but you may also see a reduction in weight from the proper water intake.

4. SHAVE WITH A GENTLE TOUCH

Winter is usually the time when hair grows freely since you aren’t exposing much of the skin. Spring is time to bare the skin and with that, time to shave away the fuzz.

Remember, before shaving – exfoliate. Clean the skin of all dead cells. Clean and exfoliate the entire body – neck to toe.

After shaving, use a great moisturizer to seal the moisture into your skin and reduce the chance of razor bumps or rash. Try to do this process while you are in the humidity of the bathroom.

5. EAT HEALTHY & TAKE VITAMINS

So you binged this winter and ate lots of fruit cake, drank warm ciders and ales and couldn’t get enough of the winter cakes. That time has come to an end. Time to focus and get the right foods into your system to help your skin.

The first step is to up your intake of fresh fruits (and vegetables). This will ensure that you are taking in the right nutrients that assist the skin with vitamin A. vitamin A helps the skin to avoid being dry and flaky.

Also, add vitamins to your regimen to ensure that your skin wards off free radicals that destroy collagen and cause the skin to age. Less collagen means more wrinkles. So, up your intake of vitamin E, C and K.
